Jonah Primiano is a Los Angeles-based animation filmmaker and educator. His rotoscope films combine selective graphite rendering and precise editing resulting in visually spare works that probe the relationship between image, culture, and meaning.

His films have been screened at festivals such as Slamdance Film Festival, London International Animation Festival, and Animateka International Animated Film Festival. He presented a research paper titled
The Rotoscopic Gaze, Composite Vision and the Moving Image at the Society for Animation Studies in 2022, and was a Post-Graduate Teaching Fellow in the School of Film/Video at CalArts in 2021. He has been self-publishing the animation magazine Mostly Moving since 2019. He holds an MFA in Experimental Animation from CalArts and a BFA in Animation from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
